Water for Elephants.

By: Sara Gruens.

What I liked about this book was that it was based on a true story. It really captured romance and terror. The only thing I didn't like about the book was that you pretty much predicted what would happen in the end. It was like every romance novel but it was told in such an interesting story that you don't really care. I would like to show this book to some of my friends, mainly girls though. Many people might also relate to it because it has an abusive relationship in the story and whoever is in one it can help them and they can try and get out of that relationship. It kept me not wanting to put the book down because there was so much action and ups and downs that you couldn't wait to figure out what happens next. I was sad that it ended but it had a really good ending that I wanted. It also makes you feel like a child again because they describe stuff so magically and it makes you feel like you are at the circus. I wouldn't change anything about this book besides the abuse but that's what made it interesting. I just wish that was not apart of the true story it was based off of.

How has reading this book changed your opinion of a certain person or topic?
--- My opinion was changed about people who work at the circus. I always thought they were weird and disgusting , but its not their fault. The conditions they work in and how they do not have one place to live , I understand why they act the way they do. They work hard and barely get any sleep or food and little pay. If they do it they have to love it and I respect them for that because they work so hard even though they get little pay, sometimes no food for days, risk their lives with the animals, sleep on a floor and not take many showers so we can get enjoyment out of it. I would not like to work in the circus but I do enjoy it and how much work they put in to it.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he or she achieve this?
--- Yes, she writes the story so well and makes it seems magical. That's the only word I can think of to really describe the book. Its also interesting that it was written off a true story so all the things in the book actually happened. It takes you back to the olden days when they had trains that carried the circus and animals around and she describes everything with so much detail you seem like your actually there with the people. It also drawls you in with the romance. That's what made me keep reading it. Every page has more action then the previous one.
